Pranav Thekke Madathil

Bio/CV:

Pranav Thekke Madathil is currently a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Physics where he is advised by Prof. James Analytis. Pranav received his PhD. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Princeton University, where he was advised by Prof. Mansour Shayegan and Dr. Loren Pfeiffer.

Pranav’s doctoral dissertation focused on growing ultra-high-quality two-dimensional electron systems confined to GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wells using molecular beam epitaxy. He was part of the effort that lead to the significant enhancement of electron mobilities over 50 million leading to the uncovering of new physics in the strongly interacting many-body regime, particularly the observation of fragile fractional quantum Hall states at extremely low filling factors and Wigner crystallization in the extremely high-quality regime.

As a Kavli ENSI Fellow, Pranav will work on a variety of quantum materials. His research will focus on developing novel synthesis techniques to produce new two-dimensional materials and investigating their exotic properties through low-temperature transport measurements. In addition, he will fabricate heterostructures based on these two-dimensional materials and study the rich emergent phases that arise at their interfaces.
