Justin Ondry received his B.S. in chemistry/materials science from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 2015, where he conducted undergraduate research developing new mesoporous materials with Prof. Sarah H. Tolbert. He earned his Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2020, where he worked with Prof. Paul Alivisatos. During his time there, he investigated structural defects in colloidal nano-crystals and their assemblies using in-situ transmission electron microscopy. He also developed new approaches to prepare atomically fused superlattices via oriented attachment.

Currently, Justin is a postdoctoral fellow in the research lab of Prof. Dmitri Talapin at the University of Chicago where he is developing molten salt chemistry for the synthesis and transformation of colloidal III-V nanocrystals.
