Berkeley Supervisor: Jeff Neaton

Cambridge host: Bartomeu Monserrat

Sijia received her BSc in Physics at the University of Science and Technology of China in 2020. She is a third-year PhD stu dent in Materials Science and Engineering and works with Prof. Jeffrey Neaton in the Physics department. Her work involves  using state-of-the-art first-principles calculations to study the electronic and optical properties of novel complex oxides and  nitrides for renewable applications with the consideration of their natural point defects. Sijia’s Exchange project will be a first-prin ciples study of the effects of electron-phonon coupling on electronic structure in materials systems for energy applications.
