Peter Jomo Walla is Professor at the University of Braunschweig with an additional research group within the department of Neurobiology at the Max-Planck-Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen. He was appointed this fellowship from August 1, 2017 to July 31, 2018.
His research focuses on using special methods of optical spectroscopy and microscopy, including single molecule detection, nonlinear spectroscopy and ultrafast spectroscopy, to study the highly efficient processes of photosynthetic light harvesting as well as to develop highly efficient artificial light harvesting systems for improved photo-voltaics. He also applies these techniques to better understand important mechanisms in Neurobiology, such as neurotransmission and learning and memory.
