In Situ Light Injection Study on Stacked WS2/WSe2 /hBN Hetero-Bilayers

Abstract:

This article discusses the use of moiré systems to manipulate the electronic characteristics of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) by exploiting the twist degree of freedom and lattice mismatch. The stacking domains formed in these systems are controlled by strain and flat band structure. The article focuses on the dynamics involved in the ultrafast heat conduction of twisted WS2/WSe2 hetero-bilayers and the use of aberration corrected transmission electron microscopy (AC-TEM) to understand the behavior. The experiment involves in situ light injection and the recording of high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) images to analyze the changes in lattice planes and spot appearances. Further investigations are being conducted to understand the underlying physics.
