Joern Bannies is currently a Postdoc in the group of Kwabena Bediako in the chemistry department. He received his PhD from the University of British Columbia. In his doctoral research, Joern studied how distortions of the atomic arrangement of square lattice materials can be used to engineer their electronic properties on large energy scales. He developed a framework that explains the evolution of the electronic structure upon breaking two distinct symmetries of the square lattice, as realized in a variety of real materials. Anton Marius Graf will join Kavli ENSI as a Heising-Simons Junior Fellow. His research interests lie at the interface of quantum dynamics, condensed matter physics, and theoretical chemistry. He received his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University under the supervision of Eric J. Heller, where he also earned a master’s degree in Applied Physics. He holds a master’s and a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Cambridge and the Technical University of Munich, respectively.
Pranav Thekke Madathil is currently a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Physics where he is advised by Prof. James Analytis. Pranav received his PhD. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Princeton University, where he was advised by Prof. Mansour Shayegan and Dr. Loren Pfeiffer.
